1970 AMC AMX Coupe
Please visit www.Survivor-Cars.com for additional photos, information and a video. This vehicle is available for viewing by appointment only. Please call to schedule a time to view this vehicle. Nothing stands out at a show like a Red, White and Blue AMX sitting on rally wheels! This beauty is powered by a 401 CID V8 that is stroked to 438 cubic inches, and backed by a very unique Turbo 400 automatic transmission. It is unique because it has a Hurst 4-speed shifter handle mated to it to give the appearance of an old gear grinder. The automatic transmission sends power to a Ford 9 rear end out back with CalTracs traction bars. The 3.73 gears are a great compromise between holeshot capabilities and cruising prowess. Power steering and power disc brakes matched with the automatic transmission make this a great driver. This car comes with 3 folders full of receipts for work performed. The AMX is the little brother of the Javelin and is a 2-seat muscle car, plain and simple. Taking one of the smaller cars they had and cramming big displacement V8 engines in them made for some of the fastest cars around in the late 60s and early 70s. High back vinyl and cloth bucket seats, an AM/FM/Cassette player, set belts and woodgrain on the dash and steering wheel make the cockpit very comfortable and sports. Extra gauges have been mounted under the dash so you can keep an eye on the water temperature and oil pressure. The 401 has plenty of power and has been upgraded with Hooker headers, a Champion aluminum radiator, MSD billet distributor, MSD plug wires and MSD coil, aluminum oil pan and valve covers. The full-length Hooker headers run to dual exhaust with a great rumble. This vehicle is eligible for an extended service contract through Classic Vehicle Protection.
